Kiln Dried Logs versus Shimada Heat Logs

Modified on Tue, 19 Dec, 2023 at 12:38 PM

Which is best - Kiln Dried Firewood or Shimada Heat Logs?  The results are in and the winner is...... Well, it depends on what you are looking for.

Look and Feel.  Winner: Kiln Dried Firewood.  You can't get a more attractive burning fuel than Kiln Dried Firewood. Its got it all - beautiful flames, natural looks, attractive aroma and the pop and crackle sound effects.

Heat Output.  Winner:  Shimada Heat Logs.  In laboratory controlled fire performance tests*, Kiln Dried Firewood is no slouch, but the Shimada Heat Logs give out almost 60 percent more heat.  This is a result of the manufacturing process which produces a really dense log, with a low moisture content.

Firelife:  Draw:  No clear winner in this matchup.  To extend firelife we recommend burning your logs on a base of smokeless coal briquettes, giving you the best of both worlds.

Ease of Lighting.  Draw:  Both Kiln Dried Firewood and Shimada Heat Logs are ridiculously easy to light.  A handful of Twizler firelighters is enough to get them going with little effort.

Sustainability.  Draw: Both Kiln Dried Firewood and Shimada Heat Logs are 100% sustainable products

*British Standard Open Fire Test, using same amount of fuel.
